First visit to the estate. It won't be the last! Beautiful place in the wonderful Wolds. Natural landscape but evidently well looked after - as evidenced by the first sight of the Lincoln Reds amongst the trees. A better looking herd you'd go a long way to see. Anyway, we were there for a turkey. Despite the trials of the past months the team have done very well to produce a beautiful Norfolk black turkey. After decades of enjoying free range Bronze birds (always excellent btw) this was a new experience. Very pleased to report that the bar has been raised even higher. Moist and firm meat with great flavour. Perhaps less brown meat than the Bronze (but an early finishing effect this year?). The 6.5kg bird fed 6 adults comfortably with plenty still to go! (see photo). Also alovely touch to have a tea/coffee/mince pie & chat with staff and customers. Please keep doing what you are doing! See you next year (fingers crossed)! (or sooner for some beef!!)
