I bought a new telescope, but it didn’t come with a case only a sturdy cardboard box with foam padding. At first, I purchased a large case and filled it with pluck foam, but I wasn’t satisfied, as it didn’t feel secure enough. Then, I discovered Shadow Foam, which is the same type of foam that originally came with the telescope. I found the foam very easy to work with, using a surgical scalpel blade and a snap-off retractable knife. I replaced the knife blades for each sheet of foam, which resulted in cleaner cuts. I cut all the way through the 50mm thickness of the foam sheets. On the last sheet, I cut a 10mm strip from the cutout to reinsert into the bottom of the opening for added support.
