I wanted to be able to access the GPIO pins on my pi 5 when using a NVMe hat. The pi M.2 hat allowed me to do this by providing enough space to fit extra long pins, which passed through the hat enabling a ribbon cable and a GPIO extension board to be used. Other NVMe kits I loqdjff at did not provide this access.
