This a frank, but fair, review of my Mango Level 2, and is intended to help Mango improve their products and service.
My overall experience was mixed. I was looking at getting a Level 2 anyway, so when Mango had a 20% off promotion, I jumped at it!
The latest website information (updated that day) was that Level 2’s were in stock with a lead time of 3-4 weeks. I ordered at the end of May (29th I think) and had taken the last week of June and first two weeks of July off work to watch the Tour, so that sounded like perfection! I could ride my new bike each morning before setting down to watch the pros in the afternoon.
Unfortunately this was not to be. I chased up a few times and Zoe was very helpful providing the best updates that she could, however there was always another problem or delay. In the end my bike arrived 62 days after ordering, so near enough to 9 weeks, over twice as long as the website estimate.
Now I know Mango will say “Covid, suppliers, paint shop” etc etc but as someone who custom built bikes and wheels for a living from 1997-2014 there are always, always issues that you have to work around. Don’t give a 3-4 week estimate if that’s not the case. According to the office, my ‘in stock’ frame hadn’t even been painted within the 3-4 week period. Not good enough Mango.
I have reviewed all the bike parts individually so won’t go into too many specifics now.
Overall the Mango concept is excellent, the website is fairly easy to navigate and the communication wasn’t bad at all, even if it wasn’t the response that I was hoping for.
Mango, if you want me to build you some wheels or suggest a special edition then get in touch!!
