First of all, I ordered this and liked this because I have a very strong sense of what works for my style and body shape. I'm typically a US -4, but sized up to XS based on recommendations and also I wanted some room for being able to fit an additional layer underneath if needed. I also sent this to a couple of my friends over US size 10 and two immediately picked up on the fact this coat didn't have slits. After wearing it out into the cold Boston weather, I immediately noticed what was done to the tailor to offset the lack of slits in order to make it work for extended sizing the buttons are put so that the coat flares OUT rather than closes straight (compare the two photos where of where the coat closes based on where the buttons are vs. where the buttons would be if it were naturally to close along the seems of a "straight" cut coat.) basically... this makes it worse for everyone because unless if you're exactly proportioned like the size 18 "sample size", even if you usually wear a size 18, that means you either can't close the coat OR it looks boxy and stuffy, which is directly a result of trying to accommodate the wide range of women's chest sizes without just putting in slits. Thus showing how important details in tailoring are, not just choosing a different standard sample size when emulating a populate style. This means if the coat is boxy on you and you had higher hopes, the easily solution is just to retailor the buttons inward. However, the problem is harder to solve if you can't close the coat because you need to find a seamstress to tailor in slits, probably best at the sides instead of one in the back. Oh, also the wool is pretty thin, compared to other brands this is emulating, at wool that's half the weight of comparative 80% wool coats for me. This is actually a plus for me because it offers more options for me since I need pieces to accommodate more temperatures given Boston weather, but might be a disappointment given its original sticker price compared to 80% wool blend coats from other brands. Again, *I* really like this piece, but I'm pointing out flaws that make it not a universally flattering piece since the tailor poorly accommodates many body sizes, despite a very obviously tailoring option that WOULD make it more universally flattering.
