I chose platinum since she has some sensitivity to metals and platinum is the least likely to cause a reaction. The vine design goes around the entire top and sides of the ring, which we like because it carries the theme of the design over most of the body of the ring instead of just around the the main gemstone. Liz is a huge fan of Lord of The Rings, so I figured she would love a design theme that could pass as one of the elven rings of power - the marquis cut with the viney designs certainly achieves that. As a piano player, she has fairly long fingers compared to how wide her hand is, so I figured the Marquis cut would complement her hand shape - she (thankfully for me) agrees! I very much enjoyed the ability to choose the setting, material, and gemstone. As an engineer and maker, it was important to me that I have some role in the design of the ring to make sure that the ring was *perfect* for MY fiance. The tools provided by Brilliant Earth provided enough options that I was happy with the process. Liz said before I proposed (not so subtly) that she doesn't like natural diamonds because they are expensive and some of the history involving the trade. Moissanite is a fantastic material for gemstones. It is sparkly (which she adores like a seagull), affordable, lab made, and was originally discovered in meteorites! There is NO need to have to buy a natural diamond when Brilliant Earth has these beautiful moissanite gemstones! Highly recommended. The accent diamonds are lab diamonds, and add to the detail of the ring. It is not a simple ring, and there is a lot of detail for the wearer to appreciate.
