I received a mixed flock (black copper Marans, welsummer, black Ameraucana, white silked Easter egger, gold kissed granite olive egger, and bountiful blue egg layer, all of whom I'll review once they're laying and have done enough for me to know frequency) late spring and they all arrived happy and healthy in Oregon the day after shipping . I had a slight scare when the tracking showing as stalled in the same place for most of the first afternoon and showing an estimated delivery 5 days away, but the MPC customer service woman I talked to was great and reassured me the tracking gets behind sometimes and would probably catch up after they arrived. Sure enough, there they were at my local post office the next morning. The heating pack stayed warm for several days after they arrived, so I feel confident that even had their journey taken longer they'd have been warm. Rose was one of my sweetest chicks from the start and would fall asleep in my hand and as she grew would frequents perch on my shoulder or snuggle in my lap during visits (she still does!) she always runs to greet me when I go out and follows me around and is generally sweet and sociable with humans. She's pulled a few feathers out of her sisters on occasion and is towards the top of the pecking order, but is generally fairly polite and doesn't bully anyone - in fact the smallest in my flock often goes to her for protection. She was one of the fastest growers and is one of my largest 2 (of 6) birds currently. She was also the first to lay at exactly 23 weeks. Her first egg was 55g (1g shy of being large) and they've increased in size since then, currently around 63g and still increasing. She lays 5/week and they're delicious! She was the 1 in 16 who had a single comb rather than a peacomb and I was so anxious to see what color her eggs came out. They're lovely and honestly I couldn't be happier even if they were blue! They're a cream with a bloom that gives them a pink tinge that's tricky to catch on camera, but absolutely lovely in person and such a perfect addition to my egg basket :)
