This is my second pair of Pendles. The originals (in Conker) have given great service since 2023 and, to be honest, still look pretty good after addressing a variety of terrains and environments; ranging from landrover tracks to department stores. I now have this new pair for “Sunday Best” and both versions have been given a good workout in our recent Highland wintry weather. A few reflections: I now much prefer Lanx’s ‘Acacia Distressed’ finish (even more lovely on a Lanx Bayley) and the new black Vibram soles seem, weirdly, to blend in and appear less industrial. There has been no apparent deterioration in quality of manufacture - and these are, again, pretty much straight-from-the-box comfortable. I need a wider, but secure, fit for my ageing, titanium-reinforced ankles and these definitely fit the bill. So far, the weather-proofing has held and I’ve yet to apply any form of dressing (My favourite is Saphir “Mink Oil” and a very occasional application of a so-called nano-protector) . My older pair has also been augmented by a thin pair of thermal orthopaedic insoles, but this has not yet been necessary with this latest purchase. Overall, I’m very happy indeed with my Pendles and would recommend them to anyone as a go-to outdoor and general activity boot. By the way, every credit to whoever tied the spare laces to the boots. Detaching these passed a few enjoyable minutes over the festive period 😊
