The Thule Canyon is probably the best compromise between a roof bag and a roof box. Off the car it looks (and is) very roomy, but once on the car it does not dominate even fairly compact cars (mine is the new Fiat Grande Panda). I use mine for transport of soft bags of equipment, and long (2m) soft bags for telescopic masts used for portable telecommunications. It’s rock solid and perfect for the job. I can’t recommend it highly enough..
