“I love that the stem is recycled and the cotton is organic, especially since cotton is such a highly sprayed/GMO crop. Room for improvement- the PLA window in the packaging is completely unnecessary, adds to landfill and could be replaced with plant based packaging that is compostable.”
“These are great, they are still stiff enough to clean well. Also a great bonus they are plastic free and made from organic cotton, since cotton has such a bad impact on the environment too.”
“The cardboard stem is eco-friendly and a deciding factor to switch over from regular cotton buds. However, it is less sturdy, so it requires a gentle hand, but by no means a deal breaker. My only complaint is the PLA window in the packaging. Contrary to general perception and understanding, polylactic acid plastic (PLA) is only biodegradable in a specialised industrial facility with specific conditions which Australia does not yet have and compostable only if certain conditions are met. PLA cannot be recycled with other regular plastic because the additives in the manufacturing of PLA will contaminate the regular plastics rendering them toxic and unsafe to be recycled for further use. PLA is, unfortunately, destined for the landfill, and it will decompose like regular soft plastic which takes about 1,000 years unless we have specialised industrial facility to decompose or recycle it; otherwise, the only difference is that it is made from renewable resource versus non-renewable petroleum resource. The PLA's waste life cycle impact on the environment is the same as regular plastic for now until there are specialised PLA waste life cylcle industrial facilities.”
“Good product. Great to have non-plastic (note the 'plastic' window in packaging is PLA - biodegradable and compostable plastic). As others note, bends under pressure. Not made in China is a bonus for me. Organyc brand advise they are 100% Free of Chemicals, Dyes, Fragrances & Wood Pulp.”
