This building codes course exceeded all my expectations. What I thought would be a dry and overwhelming subject quickly became one of the most empowering parts of my ARE prep thanks to the way the material was taught. The instructor broke down complex code language into practical, understandable concepts. We didn’t just memorize sections—we learned how to think in code. From occupancy classifications and egress requirements to fire ratings and accessibility, every topic was explained with real-world examples, helpful visuals, and step-by-step walkthroughs that finally made the code click. I especially appreciated the way the course emphasized strategy—where to look, how to find what you need quickly, and how to use the code as a tool, not just a test obstacle. This course turned my biggest exam anxiety into a major strength. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to go into their exams (and future practice) feeling prepared and confident!

Layla Q does an excellent job going through the content. I felt like I knew a decent amount of code information, but Layla's videos gave me a deeper understanding of it all. This course helped me for PA, PPD, and PDD.

As someone who had worked with code in practice, this course was very useful to brush up on basics and to introduce NCARB think into how to interpret the code. The content is very detailed so there is plenty to cover.

Layla does a great job teaching the building codes 101. Her course is a great supplement to the building code illustrated book which clears lots of questions you might have from the book.

Layla is probably one of the few people I know who has such a passion for codes other than myself!! Building Codes 101 helped demystify the complex world of building codes and regulations, especially coming from an AHJ that has their own separate versions that deviate from the IBC. The course gives a solid foundation of code compliance and life safety issues that you need for both the exams and your career. I loved sitting back and hearing her perspective over the one I had. Her approach to teaching codes is much less intimidating and more manageable to understand and apply than I have ever placed into words. Layla loves building codes and you can tell she loves teaching people about them the same way I do on a day to day basis.
