“It is not technically correct to say “ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization.”
the official name of the organization is International Organization for Standardization, but the letters ISO are not an acronym derived from that name.”
Hi Abdullah,
Thank you for your feedback regarding the ISO 42001 Foundations course. We appreciate you taking the time to share your observations.
Regarding your comment on ISO, you are correct that the letters ISO are not technically an acronym of “International Organization for Standardization.” The organization’s official name is indeed the International Organization for Standardization.
In our course and on our website, we always refer to ISO as the official name of the organization, but we do not claim that the letters form an acronym. If you have seen any mention suggesting otherwise, we would be grateful if you could clarify where so that we can review and correct it if necessary.
Thank you again for your input.
Kind regards,

Hi Abdullah,
Following up on your review, here is the text on ISO.org website: https://www.iso.org/home.html, that nicely explains this dilemma: "ISO is the short name for the International Organization for Standardization.
It’s not an acronym, but a name inspired by the Greek word isos, meaning “equal” – reflecting our mission to create standards that ensure consistency and equality worldwide. Because the organization’s full name – and its initials – would vary across languages (for example Organisation internationale de normalisation in French), our founders chose “ISO” as a universal short form that could be recognized globally, regardless of language."
If you have any questions or dilemmas, do not hesitate to contact us directly.

“Dear Dejan,
Dear All,
I would like to express my satisfaction with the online course, which I found to be excellent and the examples to be very helpful.
Please accept my congratulations.”
“I just started this but the format and data clarity is FABULOUS thank you so much for giving small bites that you can rewind or go back to. Also making it free unless I decide to get certified is a GREAT idea. I am going to recommend it to friends. I am in medical device so many of the concepts are familiar to quality systems, but it is a great review.”
