“I love the concept of this shirt, and was super excited to try it. I especially liked the sound of having full coverage without the stranglehold of a fish mask. But the execution fell short for me.What I love:-Love the idea of a chest pocket for your phone.-Love the elastic thumb holds for windy trips. -Love the generously sized hood.-The hood offers peripheral (side) sun protection that is hard to beat (assuming you can get hood to stay put)-Love the zippered face protection, and the detail of the flap that covers the pull when zipped to keep it from rubbing. This may be my favorite detail.-The fit of the shirt itself was as expected. For me, a large is a little long, but perfect for moving around and for evaporative cooling, and the length of the sleeves seems proportionate. What fell short for me:-The chest pocket does fit my big brick of a phone with some effort, but it requires two hands, pulling and forcing, and stretching, so not super convenient. And being that I’m a female, having a phone sit there horizontally makes it super awkward and uncomfortable. Maybe guys won’t have this problem, but for me, I will never keep my phone there and would only keep cash and my license there, or a package of hooks. -The hood is great and accommodates my dreadlocks, but will NOT handle 60mph of travel. In fact, the only way that would happen is if you’re directly behind the windshield. I wore this shirt on a catamaran trip in PR and had to keep adjusting, almost had my visor blow off, too. It just doesn’t stay on the bill. I think if there was an elastic piece on each side of the flap and it was gathered, as well as a silicone grip inside it, it might improve the functionality, but I couldn’t keep the damn thing from slipping.-The face protection doesn’t come up high enough. Your nose is still exposed, which means you will still get burned from reflection off the water. If it was higher up, leaving just enough opening for the eyes, you could adjust the zippered opening to your liking. -No matter how much adjusting I did between the zipper and the flapped hood, I just couldn’t get it to fit just right.Basically, I wanted to return before wearing out based on the fit of the face protection (or lack there of). But it was non-returnable, so I gave it a try. Didn’t love it, but I won’t toss it out. It works like your average fishing shirt just fine. I just would not recommend until there’s some improvements made.”
“Very comfortable fishing shirt with great sun protection, especially the head region. The hood holds a ball cap bill, keeping the hood in place even in the wind. Runs true to size.”
