“First, customer service is excellent - kudos to AFTCO! Fit, finish, appearance of Barricade is also impressive. Ordered Large for both jacket and bibs which fit well at 5’8” 180lbs with athletic build. For reference, I wear 17/33 dress shirt with 42” chest and 34” waist and 30” inseam. However, that’s where my positive observations end. I had the first opportunity to try out the ensemble with rain in the forecast. I was excited to extend my fishing by purchasing “proper” gear to protect me from the elements. After all, the 3L garment is “…top-of-the-line and built to withstand heavy wind and rain.” as explicitly stated in AFTCO’s marketing hype. That said, following 2 hours of steady (not heavy) fishing in the rain and no wind, I was soaked both top and bottom. I was stunned and extremely disappointed in this lackluster performance! I hardly consider this unreasonable especially since AFTCO uses terms like waterproof, harsh conditions, and designed to keep rain out. I don’t know how QA testing is done, but as a retired Coast Guard member and someone who has been exposed to truly harsh conditions, this garment is an utter failure. I would not recommend this to anyone interested in remaining dry. Moreover, since the temperature was only 55F during my recent experience, hypothermia then became a real consideration. At the price paid, this product needs to perform far better to justify the expense!”
