Gift: The Book of Psalms Reviews

4.8 Rating 1,859 Reviews
Really enjoyed this and the different experience it offers. It’s a creative way of printing Scripture and adds a new element without taking away from the text. I would prefer a different translation (ESV or NIV), but this was put together really well.

I've seen publishings of the Bible in other mediums/forms/compilations, but never an actual "extracting" of an individual book set to pictures. Though I doubt the concept is "new," and that many have tried pairing stylized imagery with the Holy Scriptures. And yet, it's hard to imagine it being done any better or more reverentially than Alabaster's masterpiece, "Book of Psalms." The Word Himself is of course divine. But finding the right images to print alongside such themes as heartbreak, fear, selflessness, and all the other emotions and circumstances surrounding the human condition is no easy feat. But the image choice is as varied as the range of Psalms itself. None of the photography selections are lewd or inappropriate for the textthey evoke strong feeling through/in the subjects captured/represented on-page. I personally like the "clean" and almost "featherweight" air to the design and structure of the book, even as the passages depict the depth of human suffering and regret. The text is easy to read, and makes for a wonderful gift for friends and family, or even as a centerpiece for a table display. I'm proud to have supported this project since its Kickstarter release, and have since sown "Book of Psalms" (and other products by Alabaster Co.) into the lives of others, spreading the timeless message of hope and grace and the goodness of God so desperately needed in today's world. I give this item, as well as the company behind it, my highest recommendation. God bless.
