The over the counter products have a more harsh alcoholic smell with a tinge of mint. My canines ears have a fresh clean scent after using Epiklean Ear Cleanser. Its worth the investment. Also, I see that some reviews mention complaints about waiting for products to be in stock or poor packaging. .. I would like to mention that I not only had a very speedy delivery experience, but the packaging was fine. I guess it depends on the delivery service carrier. I order frequently online from various company's, and every now and then you are bound to get a crushed box.
