“The Tri-Heart Plus Chewable tablets are alot less expensive and also comparable in quality (per the vet front desk) to the tablets that may be purchased from the vet. In addition, sending the prescription in has not been an issue, need to plan your meds ahead, but they arrive in a timely manner.”
“My dog's doctors said these were as good as Heartgard, and they are a lot less expensive. However, the term "Chewable" is a relative one, at best. Heargard is soft, and both of my collies see it as a treat. Tri-Heart is a huge round, thick tablet and hard as a rock. One of my collies chews it without much problem, but the other cannot chew it at all, and I have to break it — with a hammer! — into smaller chunks for him to eat, which also creates a bit of powdered medication that I'm sure he needs as well but is more difficult to get him to finish. BTW, I used to use a heart-worm product that started with a C, I think, (and that apparently went out of business) that was supposed to protect against other worms, as well. Neither Heartgard nor Tri-Heart protect against worms dogs pick up from other dogs and animals.”
