“The jacket is very warm like others have mentioned, I have tried it in 0 F / -15 C with 15 mph/ 6.7 m/s winds and only a light wool sweater and cotton shirt underneath and did not feel the winds or cold. For anyone curious, I was told the Small size uses around 350 g of down. This plus the 750 fill power make for a warm combination that is not too bulky or heavy, just the perfect size for me.
I am giving it four stars because the lining is made out of nylon, and Amundsen still does not mention this at the time of this review. I emailed Amundsen about this jacket before buying and was told the lining was cotton and ended up buying it, only to find out it is not. One of the reasons why I bought this jacket was because it was made in Europe and made with organic cotton, and very few jackets have this combination. Other than this experience, the jacket is great. I hope Amundsen makes it 100% organic cotton one day, or, better yet, 100% organic Ventile.”
“Fantastic parka style jacket. I find for the UK size up is best. I'm usually a L and an XL is a good fit for me. The jacket is lofty and hugs the body very nicely with no noticeable cold spots. The cuffs are excellent although prone to grubbiness due to their colour. Pockets and storage is plenty .
My only criticism is the back of the neck area. If the hood is down and the jacket is no lt zipped up then the draft will go down the back of the neck. The weight of the hood pulls down exposing the back of the neck. You have to have the jacket fully zipped up to the chin to pull the hood back in around the neck area. (A scarf would help to mitigate this).
Apart from that, excellent.”
“I bought this jacket to my son in Norway (Tromso) over Christmas on our holiday form Ireland. He wear only long sleeve t-shirt under this jacket and he was not cold even in -10°C. He was super happy and delighted for the comfort and design. As he is slim and tall (198cm, 80kg) the XL size fits perfect. Long sleeves and not buggy.”
