Zoology 1 Textbook Reviews

4.8 Rating 4 Reviews
We have loved all of the Zoology textbooks! Zoology 1 has been a great fit for my two 6th graders. It's very informative and easy enough to follow that my twin boys can manage it almost entirely on their own. We have really enjoyed having the audio of the book as well. It's nice to hear more than just mom's voice reading, and the author does a great job of reading her book out loud for the audio version. Highly recommend the Zoology books!

I've been eyeing Apologia's science curriculum for years, but we were doing Classical Conversations so I didn't feel like we needed it. We are now shifting gears in our homeschool and I needed a new science curriculum. Zoology 1 is absolutely beautiful! I was a little intimidated at first but once I looked through it I got so excited. We started using it this week while the weather is nice and we are loving it! It's so hands on and colorful and fun yet academically solid. I love the fact that it's written from a biblical world view. Honestly it checks ALL the boxes for us. We can't wait to dive deeper into science and see what other courses we can get into with apologia in the coming years.

I am currently using this to teach K-5 students. It is a fantastic book with many engaging activities and information that that age group (and adults for that matter) would find fascinating. My only complaint is that there is no pronunciation after any of the terms used in the book. As with many science courses, the words used are not everyday language. The bolded terms, and especially the names of the class/orders/etc, should have pronunciations. I just did the pterosaur lesson this week. Ever try pronouncing dinosaur-like names without a pronunciation key? Not pretty :-P

We are enjoying the revised edition of Zoology 1. The reading is in much smaller chunks. There are more illustrations of what's covered in each lesson. My children love the hands.on experiments. The lessons are short enough my child with dyslexia and ADHD can complete them before losing interest or getting overwhelmed. We are loving this book.
