“This self paced course has been a great transition for our guy that has transitioned from public school to homeschool. He can control everything himself and gets instant feedback on tests to show what information he is able to retain. It gives him a little bit of independence with a safety net. Great course!”

“My daughter recently started the Self - Paced General Science course. She is enjoying many aspects of the course. She is also currently taking a self paced math course through AoPS. She wishes that the Apologia self paced course would use some of the same organizational techniques. For example, she has to go back to check the schedule, rather than having a side bar with the list of daily tasks. The tasks also change color as they are completed in AoPS and she likes that feature.
As the parent, I wish more of the student notebook was incorporated online. It seems a little disconnected to have to go through and check to see if she has any missing assignments. I like that the tests are integrated, but it would be nice if there was an option to have lab reports and or notes or other pieces also graded online.
Her AoPS is taught by a bot, but she does have a few assignments graded by a real person. The feedback she receives on those few assignments is very encouraging, and valuable. She also has a forum where she can ask a teacher her or other students questions.
So while she definitely prefers the Apologia self - paced over just reading a text book, if it incorporated some of those other features it would be even better!!
I also wish that there would be an assignment for her to prep her materials first the upcoming experiments. Weve had to skip some and come back or push them to the next day, because we didnt have or couldnt find the materials while she was working through the lesson.
Overall, we are much happier using this than our previous curriculum. Hopefully, some improvements will continue to be made to make the experience even better!”
