All for the cost of one fancy branded brightly coloured European rain jacket. The camo choice is perfect for NZ conditions as long as you remember to wear your hi-viz camo orange beany so some twerp doesn't think you're a deer.
I sleep out under a basha in my -10 deg rated bag plus USGI bivvy in mid-winter NZ cold and rain and not feel a thing. And best of all when you get back home all covered in blood guts, various excrements and mud, as long as you obey the washing instructions and don't tumble anything, it all washes up like new.
It's brilliant gear and I highly recommend it. Just don't make a habit of wearing it out to the supermarket, or the pub... you'll attract some funny looks.”
