“A well organised, safe & managed tour. Guides & service crews couldn’t have been more helpful and engaging. Road gradients not as hilly as I had envisaged. Stark change in monetary affluence between Thailand & Laos. Mekong river cruise was stunning. Wildlife was, surprisingly, a little stale - as opposed to the cycling and social interaction which was terrific”
“From the moment Chai and KP picked us up at our hotel in Chiang Mai until we said an emotional farewell to Sai in Luang Prabang, we were treated with the utmost kindness and care. In Thailand and Laos we were carefully fitted for our bikes. Water bottles were constantly refilled. Rides brought us to glorious landscapes and we had the opportunity to witness daily life. Rest stops were in beautiful shady locations, and delicious snacks were plentiful. We were encouraged to ride at our own pace, and when the going got tough , the van was always available. The meals were a feast for the eyes , and absolutely delicious. Each hotel was in a magnificent setting with luxurious accommodations. We enjoyed the good company of everyone on the Art of Bicycles, the Tiger Trails Team, all of our biking buddies and found it hard to say farewell. The photo submitted of Don was taken en route , when he spotted a delicious mango dessert, and biked over to buy some for all of us. The joyful smile on his face and the gesture is indicative of the creative level of care we received throughout the trip.
I have more photos but they are not on this device.”
“In advance of our cycling trip in Northern Thailand and Laos I had read extensively about the trip. I had no idea that the actual trip would far exceed our expectations. It was a trip of a lifetime. Our guides and support staff in each country provided us with a tremendous understanding of the people and culture as we cycled through exciting landscapes and visited fascinating villages and temples. Five stars to The Art of Bicycle Trips.”
“Organization, safety, selection of routes, guides and hotels was perfect. All promises held. Only the Itinerary did not describe the road conditions and some long commutes in Laos at the end it was a good part of the adventure but some of us would have been happier when we had the information upfront.”
“I truly loved our local guides they made the trip very authentic and a joy to be with. The Thailand pace was a bit slow if I had any complaints. The roads in Laos as very poor so it truly was a lot of potholes! We also road on main arteries, I really would have liked to experience more backroads. My biggest complaint would be the two very long transport days in the van. The lengths, both over 4 hours was not in the itinerary and not mentioned at the start of either day, so that was surprising and way too long to sit when one is not prepared for that.
Otherwise both countries are very beautiful and the people where all very welcoming and I felt extremely safe on the entire journey.”
“The scenery, local people and healthy and yummy food were wonderfully showcased by the tour guides and drivers in both Thailand and Laos! The high standard of accommodation exceeded our expectations and were some of the most scenic and unique we have ever stayed in anywhere. Loved seeing these two countries by bike and would highly recommend.”
“Excellent guides and transport. The bicycles were suitable for the terrain, road bikes in Thailand and mountain bikes in Laos. A very good mix of cultural experiences and interesting biking. Overall the hotel accommodation was excellent, with good facilities. It was quite an expensive trip but I felt it was worth it for the valuable experience of the guides.”
“We have done two trips with Art of Bicycle. Bangkok to Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang. Amazing experiences. Our guides, Noom and Sunni on the first, Noom and Fem, and Bon Chan on the second were exceptional - knowledgeable attentive and charming. Will be booking more tours soon.”
