Self-guided Van-supported Transylvania Bike Tour Reviews

3.5 Rating 2 Reviews
"Self-guided" is misleading. The tour was self-navigated with the path selected for you by the guide. Our Day-1 path took us through 8-miles of densely populated metropolitan city (Brasov), during morning rush-hour, and ended with a mile-long road improvement construction zone where I crashed in the slick mud ending my bicycle portion of the tour. Before the tour our guide mentioned we would likely be asking him for nav-help, and that "self-guided" was nonsense. He also seemed miffed that he was required to solicit another support van, but after my crash, this second van was vital since I could barely walk. After the cluster-#$&% previously known as Brasov, this tour was incredible with sparsely travelled roads through beautiful country. Unfortunately, the distances listed in the advertisement that were the basis for my selection of this tour, did not match the actual ridden distances measured by my riding partner. The total mileage was quite a bit longer. Fortunately, I was able to participate in my scheduled swim-tour in Turkey two weeks after the Romanian crash, and swim 20 kilometers in 5 days.
