I've been hearing about folks using coffee rubs for years now and have really been looking forward to when I get my first rub to use on steaks. The wait paid off, and Cattleman's Grill knocked it out of the park with this one. Surprisingly, the coffee flavor doesn't come through all that strongly, but it is evident that it's working on the meat to bring out a more in-depth flavor of the meat. I've tried this on some ribeyes and chuckeyes thus far, and both exceeded my expectations. At first I was somewhat hesitant to purchase this particular coffee rub, as sugar is the first listed ingredient. Typically I prefer savory beef, not sweet. But the sugar really just comes through in the background and isn't the prominent flavor in your mouth. The prominent flavor is still beef, which is exactly what I want out of a steak. To me (and this is just me), the sugar in the background almost reminded me of a teriyaki beef at a Japanese hibachi restaurant. Overall though, couldn't be more pleased with the product. HIGHLY recommended.
