“I was on the fence when I purchased this course, because I was already seeking out authentic, not staged, real emotion without ever saying "now fake laugh" to my couples. I'm so glad I did! Using their prompts I was able to draw out a couple's real history, their unique quirks as a couple, and in doing so hold space for them to have reactions. Some prompts I was already using on my own, but where this course really stands out is that it teaches you how to look for opportunities that you can draw on a couple's unique history.
Probably the best indicator that I was doing something different from other photographers was while I was photographing the bridal party. On multiple occasions, onlookers or members of the bridal party told me they liked my approach and that they loved how I prompted more candid images out of them without telling them to fake it. These were just out of the blue statements while people watched me use Athena and Camron's techniques.
Most importantly, they taught me how to think of my own prompts, based on what was going on and what I was learning about the couple. I think we're all guilty of going full speed ahead on a wedding day, but their course was a perfect reminder to help bring couple's back to the present moment on their wedding day, and remember what this is all about. It has really helped me be a person who brings them back to their why when so many other things demand their attention.”
