“Having experienced a season of unprecedented rat presence and damage at our country-based ecotourism tourism lodge, we have trialed a number of traps with varying success. The common wish was to select a trap that did not require poison that would impact the abundant native wildlife with primary or secondary kills.
We bought a trap + base to allow easy change of location around guest movements, which was a good plan as the trap releases an audible "pop" when the trap is deployed which may disturb our guests.
As the trap automatically resets, the need for checking lure baits is a thing of the past, and the trap has a 100% success rate if the rat investigates the food lure (the conventional traps were sometimes set off or the bait was stolen without a successful rat kill).
I am really impressed with the Bluetooth app that supports the trap that gives data such as the time/date/number of kills.
Consumers need to be aware that this method of humane killing does sometimes leave blood residue around the trap, so I advise using it outdoors in preference, or put newspaper under the trap for easy maintenance.”
