“Ruptured my Achilles Tendon whilst unloading hops from a farm trailer. Immediately bought my iWalk 3.0 which worked incredibly well with the plaster (epoxy) cast for first two weeks of injury. The only caveat was it's use on stairs. Ascending is not too bad but one MUST descend travelling backwards to avoid contact between trailing injured foot/ankle and stairs. After two weeks in cast I was fitted with a VACOPed Boot. The boot does not fit comfortably on the pad of the iWalk unless one places extra support under the knee. I bought a pair of 'NoCry' commercial knee pads which solved the fit problem and also raised the air valve on the boot from contact with the iWalk. Height setting of the iWalk is critical and may need changing with different types of footwear on the 'walking' foot. The iWalk leg height setting MUST by slightly shorter than the good leg in order to obviate the risk of tripping. However, set it TOO short and you will suffer hip discomfort. It needs careful trial and error. Overall, a great piece of hands free kit.”
