“I'm someone that likes to take supplement pills often to keep myself in good condition and top myself up on those aspects that I miss out on due to being a fussy eater! Therefore, I had high hopes for Vital Proteins. The easier it is to take, the happier Adam is! However, the jury is still out on the difference made so far. Let's take a look at my journey with the product, though. First of all, and I've seen others mention this, the tub isn't full. What an unexpected surprise in today's world (have you had crisps lately? They're like a third of the packet only!). It's likely so they can fit the spoon in, but that's a poor excuse because baby milk tubs slot the spoon carefully into the lid so more powder can be included to get better value for money - so that needs looking into. Either make the packaging smaller to not leave customers feeling cheated, or actually adjust the scoop size/location and put more powder in! Minor grumbles aside on the quantity front, mixing the powder into liquids also seems a bit hit and miss, but you find this with anything, even malt-based hot drinks, but do be prepared to sometimes give a vigorous stir to ensure clumps of powder aren't floating around in your drink! Nobody likes that, right? Personally, having it with hot water worked better because the taste in cold water just wasn't appealing at all. In fact, the taste in hot water wasn't particularly nice either, so despite being more tolerable, I did find that adding my favourite mixed fruit/blackcurrant cordial (no brand names mentioned, but one starting with V was favoured!) and some honey helped ('a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down' - sing along, if you know the words!). Then it was almost like taking nothing at all, which for someone quite picky about tastes is truly fantastic. UPDATE: Has it made any difference? Well, my nails seem a bit healthier, but what hair I have left hasn't changed, neither have my energy levels. The skin trouble on my face has finally started to subside, but it's been frustrating that it happened. Perhaps Vital Proteins was 'cleansing' me and various impurities were coming out. However, it still wasn't a pleasant experience at the start of the journey, and for it to take so many weeks to stabilise has made me feel a bit uncomfortable about my image. Conclusions? It's still a mixed bag, but more positive than a couple of weeks prior. I'd recommend for those that hate tablets, but value for money could be better, definitely.”
“While it may be too soon to be seeing any benefits yet i do feel like my skin is looking much improved since i started taking collagen peptides. I am looking forward to seeing if it relieves my joint pain as i carry on taking it. I do not understand why it says it can be taken with cold water, the first time i tried this it went like a gloopy paste and would not mix. It also had an unpleasant taste in water. Now i add one scoop to my morning coffee and there is no taste whatsoever and it is well mixed. I also like the fact that there are no additional additives, just 20g of collagen and 18g of protein, nothing else. I am looking forward to seeing what other benefits this brings with continued use. As i have never used a collagen product before i had no idea what to expect but it is simple to add to my morning routine and i feel it will bring me more benefits over time ...”
“I've recently started using this type of product and are pleasantly surprised by the condition of my hair and skin after just a week or so. It can be added to any liquid as it does not taste, I usually add it to my protein shake after a gym session. Easy to mix and store and comes with a single portion sized spoon to get the perfect amount every time. I would definitely recommend this product to others and will be looking out for other products by the same company and in the same line of items. Update : 12/3/24 After using this for some time now I can confirm that it can be used in many ways and still helps me to get the collagen skin benefiting goodness. I have tried this in my protein shakes but also works well in milkshakes, mixed into pancake mix and on it's own with a splash of malt squash. I am sure my skin is looking firmer, especially on my face and am keen to carry on using this product to see the long term benefits of this powder can provide. I have notcied online that they sell on the go, small sachets as well so I'm looking forward to trying them at some point as well, more to use at work than at home though. Still great and would recommend.”
“The tub is strong and its design makes the brand easily recognisable. The mouth of the tub made it easy to use the scoop and remove the powder without spillage. Initially I tried it in cold water and didn’t stir it immediately. I would recommend that if you are adding the powder to cold liquids that you stir it in quickly and immediately. When you do this the powder dissolves really well. In water there is a very faint taste but it isn’t unpleasant. It didn’t have any effect on coffee, tea or even in a yoghurt. I have been really impressed with how easy it is to use. As to the effects, I feel like my hair has changed for the better. It is not quite as frizzy! I have only been using it a week but I think my nails are a bit stronger. I am not sure about my skin. I think I’ll need to be using it for longer. I would definitely recommend it and I shall be buying it again!”
“User I have been using collagen supplements for a few months and have been looking for a less fishy tasting and smelling marine collagen. Vital Proteins Marine Collagen does the job. I compared it to another brand I had been using and Vital Proteins definitely smells a lot less fishy and tastes a little less too. I am yet to find any collagen supplement that I don’t taste in plain water, but this is easy to mask, with cordial for example. It dissolves easily just stirring with a spoon or shaking in a bottle, in either cold or hot drinks (unlike protein supplements like whey which just clump together in hot liquids). I bought the 221g tub, which provides 18.416666 days’ worth at the recommended 12g per day serving. That’s not long enough to notice any difference in skin, hair, nails, joints, gut etc but I trust the clinical studies in general. I prefer it when manufacturers can point to independent studies, or even their own. I appreciate these things are expensive but they build trust. Price-wise, Vital Proteins marine collagen is on the mid to more expensive end of the spectrum. I also feel Vital Proteins could do better on the packaging, which was a sturdy plastic tub, only about half filled. I understand all about settling of powders, but there was more emptiness than necessary and it was a disappointing sight when I opened the seal.”
“This is my first time trying a collagen powder, and I'm now a big fan. Yes, this is a fantastic product, clean and effective. Really nice taste and very smooth to drink. I do not notice a strong fish taste at all. I've been taking this for about a few weeks and I've noticed my nails have grown super fast and really strong! I haven't been taking it long enough to notice skin or hair changes, but I know it's doing great things for me. Really pleased! Defiantly recommend to anyone wanting to add collagen to their diet.”
“Been using this for the past couple weeks now and noticing some differences already. Nails feel stronger and healthier with less breakage and hair feels stronger! My skin is feeling great and more clear also. The product is tasteless which makes it easy to take daily. The only downside is that if you take the higher end of the recommended dose then the pot doesn’t last too long - could do with a bigger size option at a better value.”
“As I am getting older I thought I needed to increase my collagen levels. I found this collagen really easy to take either in my morning coffee or in my porridge. It was easy to measure out using the provided scoop and mixed in well with no lumps. There is no smell or taste so once it is mixed in you don’t know it’s there. It didn’t upset my stomach at all. I have noticed that my nails seem much stronger and have been growing quicker than usual. I think it is probably too early to notice any real difference in my skin or hair. I have also noticed that my joints are far less achy so that is a definite bonus. I would like to continue taking this collagen but it is rather expensive although the tub does last for a reasonable time. Like that this collagen is marine based as I am mainly vegetarian.”
