“While nobody wants to spend so much on a simple sander, try buying a 10 horse compressor and a pneumatic sander. Then pay for the electricity that 10 horse compressor uses every time you need to sand something. I have to confess that I sell these tools, so I am biased, but I'm also an avid woodworker who has had an ancient Flex orbital sander since the 80's. I have sold over a hundred of the Ceros and Deros sanders to mostly very satisfied end users with very few problems. Mirka has been exceptional with repairs and whole tool replacements. The (only) problems came from fiberglass boat builders who were trying to use the Deros tools as grinders. Don't underestimate these machines, they are aggressive stock removal tools, but 40 grit grinders they are not. At least not in production shops, the guys that broke them were hammering them everyday on partially cured polyester resin. Having disclosed this info, the other 99% of owners prefer these over pneumatic sanders they already own, and many have bought second and third units to outfit additional workers. They are smooth, powerful, exceptionally quiet, and coupled with an autostart vac, as close to dustless as you can get. Yes they cost over $500 each, but the productivity gains over traditional AC sanders provide real labor savings that put money back into your pocket every time you fire one up. Ceros was clumsy with the inverter brick, the Deros solves this brilliantly. I've owned both and haven't picked up my old Flex since I bought my first Ceros because there is no comparison in terms of comfort, performance, and quiet smooth capability.”
