VertDesk v3 Standing Desk with Hardwood Desk Top Reviews

4 Rating 2 Reviews
The desk itself is as I expected it; solid construction and wide range of movement. I'm at home now typing on top of a solid bookshelf, and it has more wobble than my work standing desk does. Information provided about add-ons could be improved and would help the overall user experience. A big issue for me is that I did not realize that the monitor stand works best when a grommet is drilled in the desk. It still works when clamped on, but being secured to a hole in the wood would have been even better. I also didn't realize that the slight wobble while typing is magnified across the monitor arms. Before I had a different desk with regular monitor stands, so my keyboard and monitors would both wobble far more than they did now--but now the monitors wobble more than the keyboard does! May be unavoidable, but would have been good to know ahead of time. Back to the desk itself, it looks good and feels like a high quality desk that just happens to transform into a standing desk. Pleased overall.

I've had the desk for ~3 weeks now and really do love it. There is one main reason it isn't a "5 star": there is NO guidance for positioning the legs for the hardwood top. The instructions are for other tops which have pre-drilled holes, but these are missing from the hardwood top and there are NO measurements provided, so you're effectively left to trial an error positioning. This is somewhat aggravated by the fact the instructions lead you to: 1.attach one leg, 2. attach the rod between the legs, 3. attach the second leg, and 4. attach the crossbar. When you get to #4 is when you discover the exact spacing needed (#2 allows for a little shifting). After trying enough extra pilot holes, I eventually got it. One other consideration: the cross bar does add stability (good), but I have a CPU holder and a larger workstation (~20" deep with connectors out the back), so it doesn't really fit with enough clearance when I raise/lower the top unless I rotate the workstation. This might be partially related to the "NO guidance" issue above, since I also had to make my own guess at where the legs should be positioned.
