NightWatch CMDR 24 Hour Intensive Use Office Chair - 400 lbs. Reviews

4.3 Rating 3 Reviews
Received my chair yesterday (September 03, 2025) and I’m liking it A LOT. What really sold me on this purchase was references made to the fact that it’s a lot like a really good leather car seat. I’m only knocking off a star because the lumbar support is just so-so and the arm rests move perhaps a little too easily. Other than that it’s great. I haven’t even fully broken it in yet, but a good testament to its comfort is that on my first day I literally sat in the chair for 10 hours in total comfort (I am 6 foot 1 inch, 210 lbs for reference). And the build quality is superb. One of the weaknesses of my previous “daily use” chair (steelcase leap v2). Is that they really don’t last. The so called leather arm rests have peeled off and I’ve always had problems with their pneumatic mechanisms that keep failing on me. With the CMDR that mechanism is so much more “beefier” and it was super easy to install which should also mean if I ever need to replace it, that should also be a relatively easy process. Before purchasing the CMDR, I did get close to buying the Herman miller Aerion but for my use case where I mostly use a chair to watch TV/Streaming/Movies that chair simply wouldn’t go high enough. I could see it being useful, just for desk use but in my case it simply wasn’t comfortable enough (I like the back control on the CMDR so much better with its hard stops which I use when actively using my iPad while watching the 4K TV. And when I’m purely watching TV it’s so easy to change to mode on the CMDR to allow rocking. No fancy controls here, just simple classic office chair controls. Construction is simply top-notch and I’m looking forward to years (if not decades) of use! Highly recommended.

To start, I am very picky with chairs and Iwork and play from my desk, so I am sitting for 12+hours a day. I returned an embody and aeron. I disliked all steelcases. Eventually, I was looking at a lifeform (4k and no returns). But it felt flimsy. What I wanted was a chair that had knee tilt AND an adjustable back angle. This combination is very rare, and this seems to be the cheapest option that isnt made of plywood(looking at you secretlab) The good Build quality. This thing is a tank. I get 0 wobble or creaks. The ability to adjust the back to any angle is great. You can get it exactly dialed in Seat depth is great The not so good Lumbar support isnt really that adjustable its either not there or very much there. But it works. I would prefer a different mechanism. Tilt lock - this is not like the herman miller locks that are more of a stop. It will lock your seat in the exact position. The biggest let down is the headrest. It forces your neck forward and cannot be pushed back. It is easy to remove and in theory you can swap it for another one since its a car headrest. Other notes Im 6'1" and 200lb and this chair is almost too big for me. But that is easily solved with footrest. The arms are better than I expected, but they dont go down very far. But overall, this chair has been great. I will update with more impressions after a few weeks.

I have only had this chair for one day, but can update if anything changes over time. Sitting upright in this chair feels great - they nailed the car feel. The cushioning feels much more comfortable than the average office chair. The construction feels very solid and the materials feel quality. The mechanisms for adjusting the back and seat depth were a bit difficult to use - raising the back from the boxed position took like a full minute of spinning of the knob, and adjusting the seat depth requires perfect hand and body positioning to actually move the seat instead of spinning the chair. However, I actually think the back adjustment knob is perfect once the chair is initially set up, as it really lets you microadjust the positioning to the perfect point. The headrest is quite good and carlike as well, pretty much what you'd expect from the images. I was skeptical that it would hold its position if adjusted (the flexible part of the headrest) but so far it's solid. My favorite part of this chair compared to my previous one is that it is extremely comfortable for sitting cross-legged. My previous chair was a bit too hard on the bottom for my ankles and had rails on the corner that dug into my thighs. The CMDR bottom on the other hand seems like the perfect density for me, and there are no hard points on the cushion. The armrest position and adjustable seat depth leave plenty of room for my legs, and my ankles can sink comfortably into the cushion. For context I am 6'2 210. The armrests twist and slide without requiring a button to be pushed. I imagine I will get used to this, but I have accidentally repositioned them while just trying to move once or twice already. I don't really care about the armrests much so I'm not too bothered. I was skeptical buying a chair that was brand new to the market and nobody had reviewed yet, but I felt like this was the only chair that would suit all of my needs. I didn't want a traditional office chair because I sit in this chair all day and I really wanted to be able to get some quality relaxation/comfort factor in it as well instead of just ergonomics. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this chair.
