In a modern interpretation of the original 70’s dive watch, wear the new Promaster Mechanical Diver – the timepiece with a deep backstory. Inspired by the design of the 1977 Citizen Challenge Diver that was found on an Australian beach in 1983, the watch was covered in barnacles after having been submerged in the Pacific Ocean for years but was still ticking. That history has inspired our new Promaster Mechanical Diver and given it the affectionate nickname, Fujitsubo – Japanese for barnacle. The lightweight and scratch-resistant Super TitaniumTM case is complemented by a black dial with embossed hands and a classic green luminous for a vintage feel, a rotating elapsed-time bezel, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The retro look is completed with the black polyurethane strap with a raised square pattern. This advanced timepiece with automatic movement features enhanced magnetic resistance to protect against external magnetic fields, as well as a 42-hour power reserve. This high-performance watch comes in an exclusive collector’s dive tank box, is ISO compliant and water resistant to 200 meters. Caliber number 9051.

My favorite new diver. Light and versatile and great price point. I’m wearing it much more than my Pelagos 39!

I’ve been wearing this every day for 3 weeks now. It’s my daily driver now. Super comfortable strap and lightweight body makes it easy to wear. You can dress it up or down. Illuminates beautifully in the dark. My only complaint would be the long strap. 1/4-1/2” shorter would be perfect, but I understand this may be long to go over a wetsuit. Highly recommend!

I love this watch. It’s incredibly light, easy to read, has really bright lume, can go much deeper into the water than almost any of us will ever go, and looks smart, purposeful, and elegant on my wrist. My example of this watch delivers outstanding accuracy. And no one can beat the fujitsubo story, where the predecessor model of this watch spent three years in the Pacific Ocean and was discovered, barnacle-covered, on an Australian beach…still able to run. To say I’m extremely pleased with this watch is an understatement!

Great little diver. Received it yesterday and I really love the light titanium. Bezel action is smooth and with perfect tension albeit quiet (which doesn’t bother me at all). Good feedback and plenty of grip despite what I had read in other reviews before purchasing. Everything lines up perfectly. The glass is excellent. The bevel does add a little distortion towards the edge of the dial. It’s not the most legible diver out there imo but it has that vintage vibe that it is going for. For me it’s a win. The only negative is the crown. It is criminally small. Not quite sure why citizen went with this style. A little bigger and it would have been a 5/5. The strap seems to be of good quality. A little long if anything. I’d shorten it by 1 cm. Overall a fun diver and my first Citizen.
