This is a fun activity in Peterborough

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Today I should have finished my patchwork, but unfortunately I forgot to bring my work in progress. Instead, did something else, ( how to make nappings), something for the season. I Grateful that Katy, has lots of ideas, and is very helpful.

I enjoyed my one to one lesson. My teacher is very kind, patient and explained how to manage a problem. What I am pleased about is that I learnt a way of altering something.

Kate is a very helpful, patient teacher. She was guided by my level and needs as well as advising and showing me helpful techniques. She guided me around my sewing machine which I will now have more confidence to use with the improved understanding I have of it as well as skills. Demo on in store machine was helpful as able to out and consolidate new knowledge and techniques learned. It was very disappointing that I was unable to use my Gift card to pay for this session. I very much enjoyed my one to one with Kate. I would be inclined to book more if I was able to use the card.

Met with Kate from Hobbycraft, Peterborough for an hour session. It was brilliant, so informative. Kate guided me on my choice of machine and demonstrated the range of stitches that I can incorporate into my textile/art projects. Kate made it very practical and hands on. So easy to use gift card.

I went into the class a little worried I wasn't going to completely understand sewing, the machine, the process, etc. Being a complete Day 1 beginner, I knew NOTHING. Kate was absolutely amazing and walked me through everything from what the different parts on the machine do, the different stitches, how to set up the thread... literally everything I was hoping for and more. I walked out smiling ear to ear with my new sewing machine and I'm so excited to continue building on what Kate has taught. Highly recommend - Kate is absolutely brilliant!

Having not used a sewing machine for years I needed all the help I could get! Kate was amazing at showing the basics and helping me decide the beginner sewing machine to purchase. I learnt how to set up the machine, different stitches, button holes. Overall I was so impressed and will definitely be back for more help in future. Thanks so much to Kate; she was an amazing teacher!

Kate was excellent - went at my pace, and no question was a silly question, as I am very much a novice. Thoroughly enjoyed my lesson x
