This is a fun activity in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Val was amazing again. So patient and encouraging. She troubleshot some mechanical issues and increased my understanding of how to keep a sewing machine in good working order. I felt very warm at one point and Val got me some water. I have at last, with Val’s patient and clear instructions., managed to put in a zip, something I never thought I would achieve. I feel excited about going home and practicing zips now. I look forward to returning for another lesson when I have practiced what I have learnt so far.

The class was for my daughter who has recently got into sowing, Val the teacher was really good with her, running her through all the different elements and some key faults she might run into. She taught her in away she found it easy to understand and there was lots of hands on practice. She was very knowledgeable and also went through tips on working of patterns and producing a garment. Would highly recommend.

My teacher was very patient, knowledgeable, encouraging and understanding, nothing was too much trouble. I refreshed my memory about using my sewing machine and learnt a great deal about how to use it properly, learning things I had not been aware of before. I now feel I have a much better understanding, am able to trouble shoot and have gained hugely in confidence. It was fun and uplifting to feel that with practice I would be able to undertake some projects that I hadn’t believed I would be capable off. It was easy to get my gift card and I used it straight away..

Really enjoyed the workshop. Val was great talking me through step-by-step how to approach the dress pattern and giving me tips along the way. Her explanations were clear and she was able to answer all my questions. Would recommend highly.

Class was really hard to book as I had 2 x 1hr slots, website just could not cope. Took 10 emails back and forth to eventually sort it, very frustrating. Customer service were very helpful in the end though. So glad I persevered, Val was amazing! She asked me my goals and then met them exactly! I got plenty of hands on machine time myself too, to practice. The 2nd hour was spent with a paper pattern, Val explaining everything in layman’s terms to me. We had fun too, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, thank you so much.

Val gave an excellent introduction to using an electric sewing machine and a look at how to use patterns. This workshop was for my 14 year old granddaughter, a complete novice, who learnt a lot from Val on how to begin sewing with a machine. Highly recommended. Thank you.
