This is a fun activity in Swindon

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

“Instructor was very welcoming and friendly. I needed help with my new sewing machine. It turned out that my machine wasn't working properly and most of the lesson was troubleshooting. She was very helpful and arranged a refund. Also offered me more time free of charge. Would thoroughly recommend.”

“Sarah explained everything in an easy to understand way. I learnt how to thread the machine and bobbin, how the machine works and about the use of the different stitches, how to do a button hole and what tension and stitches to use on different fabrics. I will book future classes in how to put in a zip and how to follow a pattern. Very enjoyable class, which I had done it ages ago.”

“Very clear instructions, patient and willing to help. I was taught how to set up the sewing machine, bobbin, what all the different settings meant and about clothing patterns. The teacher was enthusiastic and encouraging, giving tips about what to do and how I might be able to go about my goal.”

“I have submitted a complaint following this afternoon’s one to one sewing workshop. The lady delivering the workshop agreed it was a waste of my time and money and if I contacted Customer Services I could probably get my money refunded.”

“Sarah was lovely and very knowledgeable, just what I needed to buy a new machine. We tried two machines, self threaders, and went through the setting and different stitches. Know I can buy with confidence that the machine will suit my needs”
