This is a fun activity in Ferndown, Bournemouth

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Becky was a very welcoming lady and so approachable. I'm a complete beginner and needed to know how to work with a sewing machine. Becky was so knowledgeable and very thorough, she made sewing look easy but also inspiring. I did however find trying to book the session very challenging on line.

I had bought my granddaughter a sewing machine from Hobbycraft for Christmas and we needed help with how to use it as it was different from the one she had used at school and it was different from my sewing machine. We found Becky very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. She showed my granddaughter how to thread the sewing machine then let her do it. She taught her how to use and how to clean the machine, what tension to put for the stitches, how to sew on a button and how to fit a zip. We found the lesson very helpful and enjoyable and would not hesitate to recommend Becky at the Bournemouth store.

Becky was lovely, took the time to listen & understand what I wanted to get out of the session which was to pick up sewing again after the last time was about 45 years ago! I was able to ask lots of questions & she explained how the extra bits that come with the machine worked, what different stitches could be used for and how to feel confident using my own machine at home. Excellent teacher, excellent value!

Becky was fantastic, she showed my daughter how to use the machine we had purchased, helped her find ideas and inspiration for projects and showed her how to make a scrunchie and attach zippers to projects! Highly recommend this session to anyone, especially a 12 year old starting out in her own machine after falling in love with textiles at school!
