This is a fun activity in Earlsfield, London

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Jenny is very knowledgeable and resourceful. I had lots of questions the reason why my sewing machine won't work and she answered to them one by one. One hour passed so quickly!

I had such a wonderful class with Jenny. She was a real expert and the time flew! She taught me the basics of setting up the sewing machine to the basic stitches all the way to sewing in a zipper. Really kind and patient and gave me some advice on my own personal sewing project that I’ll be working on using the skills I learned today. If you are considering taking this class- especially as an adult trying to learn a new skill I would highly recommend. I got this in the form of a gift card and it was super simple to redeem. Thanks again Jenny for the help today!

I would consider myself a beginner. I just brought a new 19s sewing machine, so i needed to learn how to use it. I haven’t used a sewing machine in many, many years, so I needed to learn how to use this sewing machine. Booking a session online was not too bad, but my actual lesson with Jenny was amazing. She was very patient with me. Made me feel comfortable enough to ask questions and confident enough at the end to feel like I can make anything and everything once I returned home. The lesson was tailored towards me and what I wanted to learn rather than just following a script. My lesson was very hands on, which I personally loved. We covered how to set up the machine, how to select different stitches. Bind hems, standard hems, seams, zips, button holes, changing the foot. You name it we covered it; all in that one hour. By the end of my lesson I made a small like pencil case, that I didn’t even realise that I was making, until Jenny said “there you go” as she was turning it right way out after I finished the section regarding how sewing on a zip. 10/10 would highly recommend. If you want advice about how to do something regarding sewing, need a refresher or a beginner, book a session…. Jenny is your lady. Thank you Jenny. You are a true gem. Side note; Hobbycraft, your organisation is lucky to have Jenny. She is a true asset to your organisation and branch.
