This is a fun activity in Earlsfield, London

Join a Hobbycraft Colleague one-to-one and ask any questions you have about your sewing machine! Need help setting up your new machine? Want to learn about how to use certain tools and accessories? Getting stuck on a certain technique? Our craft expert will share tips and advice tailored to you.

This is suitable for beginners looking to get started in sewing, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to get a feel for your sewing machine, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about features you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Colleague know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a sewing pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

*Please note that your workshop host will only have access to sewing machines that are currently stocked in Hobbycraft stores.

**Children 12 years and over can book onto this workshop but please note all children under the age of 18 will need parental/guardian supervision for the duration of the workshop.

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

My teacher Jenny was brilliant! For someone who has never touched a sewing machine I came away feeling confident in knowing how to use one, though my technique needs some more work. She was able to explain things simply so I could follow her really well. I would say if you're nervous about learning a new skill with a sewing machine, this is definitely the class to take. I highly recommend and may just do more workshops with her. Thanks

My teacher was Jenny at the Wimbledon shop & she was amazing! I already had a sewing machine & used YouTube videos, as an absolute beginner, to set up the machine but couldn't understand why it wouldn't stitch properly or even stay threaded I was doing so many things wrong & didn't know it! Jenny took me through every step: bobbin making, threading top & bottom, which stitch for which project, sewing control & so much more, slowly with patience, care and humour. By the end of our hour I could thread the machine, straight stitch, sew corners & was shown how to stop fabric fraying & more. Jenny gave me the confidence to practice at home & know how to get better. As a complete beginner my hour with Jenny was essential. She showed me how to do everything the right way that no YouTube video had. I was very nervous but Jenny put me at ease straight away, was easy to talk to and didn't mind how many times we went over the same thing. It your having trouble or just want to learn the basics before you buy a machine, this class is a must. Thank you Jenny I can't wait to pop in & show you my first finished project!

My teacher Jenny was brilliant she went at my speady. The practical hands on work was great which is were I learnt the most. Eg setting up the machine myself. She gave good advise for future sowing and ideas to improve my new skill. I will be back. Thank you.

Amazing workshop with Jackie, very understanding of what I wanted to try to achieve to work towards my cosplay piece, and provided great suggestions and directiona to get there. Encouraging when she could to help me learn more of what I waa doing while knowing when to lead for time constraints. She was also very friendly and suppprtive, the whole experience was wonderful. (Attached photo is not fully complete as we ended with instructions for how I could finish the project at home to avoid fabric ink from smudging.)
