This is a fun activity in Canary Wharf, London

If you're searching for relaxing things to do in London, why not come and explore the art of Japanese pottery with this relaxing, class for beginners?

Wabi-sabi, loosely translated, is the beauty of imperfection. Learn fundamental hand-building techniques as you create a stunning ceramic wabi-sabi object from scratch.

You don’t need any experience, as your guide will be on hand with plenty of demonstrations and one-to-one support, letting you switch off from the world to focus entirely on yourself and follow your mind, body and spirit during the session. You'll learn a range of pottery techniques including coil pots, sculpting & surface decoration across the wabi-sabi theme to create art works of your choice.

Now, let's explore your options:

Craft: Make pottery - With air-dry clay, you can make & take your pottery home right away. Once dry, you can paint them at your own pace and proudly display them in your home. Please note, this pottery is not suitable for food or drink, but they make for beautiful decorations.

Art: Make & fire pottery - You'll have a choice of fired clay options including black clay, white clay, red clay and lava clay (depending on what's available on the day). After making your pottery, it will stay with us for firing in the kiln up to 1200 degrees and we will glaze them shiney. You can collect a few weeks later. This fired pottery is food-safe and suitable for use in the oven and dishwasher.

Whether you choose the art or craft option, this pottery-making workshop offers a fun and creative activity for all.

At the end of this hand-building class in London, you'll have a beautiful piece of pottery, along with a new skill to continue developing in your own time!

Really enjoyed my birthday morning at the pottery class. I made a few bowls and others made some cute dog, fruit and vegetable ceramics. Was great to get creative and hands messy. Beautiful clay with flecks of lava. Very generous amount of clay. Glazing options as well. Thank you Amanda :)
