This is a fun activity in Homerton, London

Unwind at the pottery wheel and make your own clay creations in this fun and relaxing pottery class in London. This two-hour craft class is ideal for beginners looking to learn new skills and includes plenty of time for you to get your hands dirty as you try out new techniques and create your own handmade pottery.

You'll be guided by experienced teacher Mark who is not only an amazing potter but also the founder of Potters Thumb, the pottery studio you will be welcomed into for this workshop. Mark has years of passion, knowledge and experience he can't wait to share with you.

Class sizes are kept small so you can be sure you will get plenty of feedback and support. Mark will be on hand to answer questions and help you grasp all the techniques and necessary skills you need to start making.

During this pottery class you will:
- Learn all about clay and its properties.
- Prep the clay for the wheel.
- Center the clay on the wheel head for optimal building.
- Learn how to pull up the walls of clay to create a vessel.
- Master the best way to lift off the pot from the wheel head.
- Trim your pot.

Please note:
- The pots you create will need a few days to dry after the firing process. You can pick them up a few days later or we can post them to you at an extra cost. You can let your teacher know if you'd like to use this service during your pottery class.
- Long nails are not practical when it comes to working with clay and will not be possible when you work on the wheel as they can be an obstruction.

Really nice class, Mark (Potters Thumb) is very passionated and knowledgeable about what he does. We spent the first part of the class over pottery introduction and techniques, and in the second part we applied the theory by spinning the wheel ourselves. Made some cute cups of our own and a mini bowl that will be fired for us in the next weeks.

The class was so fun and I would strongly recommend! Our teacher Mark was so knowledgable and guided us through each step, we both managed to make 2 cups we were proud of and it was our first time doing pottery! I had a fantastic time and will be showing off my handmade pottery to everyone I know!

Me and my husband went here for my husbands birthday. It was a 2 hour comprehensive, and very in depth class on pottery which I didn't actually expect. Mark knew so much about pottery and it was very interesting to learn about the preparation of the clay before it's thrown. I never knew how much work really went into it. Then after the preparation of the clay he showed us step by step how to make a cup, which is harder than it looks. Before we actually got started with the pottery part of this class, he asked us if it would be okay if he held our hands to guide us, which was very considerate as I wasn't okay with that and he respected my boundary without hesitation. We both learnt so much and spoke fondly of our class even with relatives and just amongst ourselves. It was very informative and a great use of time. Mark even went over the 2 hour session and we actually stayed another 45 minutes making another cup and tidying up. One of the things I really like is how even after we are finished, none of the clay goes in the bin and it is actually all reused. Mark doesn't waste anything which is great, and he even makes his own tools and is honest about how the fancy tools in craft shops isn't something you actually need. I think it was a wonderful experience and both me and my husband had a wonderful time.

Great in depth class which essentially was a private session for my girlfriends 30th. The teacher Mark was great and very knowledgable and experienced with 39years experience! Mark was supportive and helped us create some beautiful cups on the pottery wheel. Thank you Mark!
