This is a fun activity in Tower Gateway. , London

Discover the Japanese art of kintsugi at this London pottery class and create a beautiful ceramic piece to take home.

Kintsugi is an ancient art form that celebrates the Japanese philosophy of the beauty of imperfection. It involves putting broken pieces of pottery back together with gold and embracing the cracks to produce a beautiful piece of art, showing how the obstacles that we overcome in life can become an important and powerful part of our identity.

In this kintsugi class, your experienced tutor will tell you all about the history and philosophy of kintsugi whilst taking you through the process of making your own kintsugi piece.

Kintsugi is a perfect solution for a mistakenly broken treasured item, but to practice this art form you'll learn how to safely break pottery to practice mending it in the kintsugi way, without overdoing the cracks.

The gold of kintsugi is what makes it so beautiful and in the next stage of your craft class, you'll learn to use a micro metal mix with epoxy resin to create your gold solution. You'll then use this solution to fix together your broken pottery pieces, creating a wonderful piece of perfectly imperfect art.

You'll finish this London kintsugi class with lots of new knowledge on kintsugi pottery and the ability to mend broken ceramic pieces. You'll also take away your own handmade piece of kintsugi art. Kintsugi is a therapeutic process and you'll feel a sense of calm and accomplishment as you finish this special workshop.

Your finished piece is only for display not for food use, microwaves, ovens or the dishwasher.

absolutely loved the Kintsugi class with ClassBento! It was such a calm, creative, and meaningful experience. The teachers was incredibly kind and patient — Brandon and Lee took the time to explain the history and philosophy behind Kintsugi, showing us how this Japanese art celebrates imperfections instead of hiding them. During the class, we each chose a piece of ceramic bowl and carefully repaired it using the golden resin. It was so satisfying to see something “broken” slowly turn into something even more beautiful and unique. Amazing step by step guidance by the teachers, helping with the tricky parts but letting us make it our own. What I liked most was how peaceful the whole process felt — almost meditative (in my opinion) :-). You leave not only with a lovely repaired piece, but also a gentle reminder that flaws and cracks can be part of your story. I’d highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a creative, mindful, and inspiring experience! Invite your friends, loved ones, or dedicate the experience to yourself. ✨

Absolutely incredible class!! The venue was real nice - good sized class but also intimate so everyone was carefully watched over by the instructors. Both instructors Brandon and Lee were super cool! Very friendly, great sense of humour and very clear in their instructions. They both went around the whole class and kept a watchful eye over everyone. Extremely enjoyable class and easy to follow for beginners. Highly recommend!!!! I am probably going to do another class so I can build up a collected of bowls for home.
