Get hooked on crochet with our beginner’s tutorial! Enjoy this relaxing craft as you get to grips with the simple skills you’ll need to stitch beautiful designs, with one of our craft experts on hand to guide you through the steps.

This workshop provides a wonderful introduction to the world of crochet, perfect if you’re a complete beginner. Through the course of the workshop, you’ll learn double stitch and treble stitch. You’ll also be shown how to create a chain, working in rows to create a tension square.

You’ll have a craft kit included, ensuring you’ve got the yarn and hook you need. It’s a great opportunity to pick up techniques you can then put into practice when you move on to other patterns.

Throughout the tutorial, you will be able to ask any crochet questions you may have.

Please note, our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

Please contact your chosen store if you are left-handed to ensure the colleague hosting will be able provide the correct support needed alternatively all of our online session's can support a left-handed learner, BOOK HERE

This workshop is also available as a private workshop for group bookings of 4+.

Please note any participants under the age of 16 will require adult supervision. A ticket is not required unless they wish to craft along.

“The teacher was amazing! She explained this very well, was very patient, went at the same pace as me, and showed me the movements as many times as I needed. I was shown a chain stitch, double crochet and a treble. She explained some yarn types and how to workout the size hook required. I'm a complete beginner and thoroughly enjoyed this class and recommend that anyone wanting to give it a go should try one of these. I was given a Hobbycraft bag, the two balls of yarn I used for the workshop, a crochet hook and set of helpful instructions. I also got to keep my crocheting.”

“Cannot reccommend this enough! Jo at Hobbycraft Exeter was kind, patient and helpful during the 1.5 hours session for my 11 year old daughter and me. She carefully followed the instructions that we had, but also gave us lots of hints and tips for crochet at home which was great and much appreciated. SUch great value for money - totally reccommend.”
