This is a fun activity in Derby

Get hooked on crochet with our beginner’s tutorial! Enjoy this relaxing craft as you get to grips with the simple skills you’ll need to stitch beautiful designs, with one of our craft experts on hand to guide you through the steps.

This workshop provides a wonderful introduction to the world of crochet, perfect if you’re a complete beginner. Through the course of the workshop, you’ll learn double stitch and treble stitch. You’ll also be shown how to create a chain, working in rows to create a tension square.

You’ll have a craft kit included, ensuring you’ve got the yarn and hook you need. It’s a great opportunity to pick up techniques you can then put into practice when you move on to other patterns.

Throughout the tutorial, you will be able to ask any crochet questions you may have.

Please note, our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

Please contact your chosen store if you are left-handed to ensure the colleague hosting will be able provide the correct support needed alternatively all of our online session's can support a left-handed learner, BOOK HERE

This workshop is also available as a private workshop for group bookings of 4+.

Please note any participants under the age of 16 will require adult supervision. A ticket is not required unless they wish to craft along.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

As a someone attending a beginners crochet course, it was great to find there were only 4 on the course. Miriam (Derby store) was a fantastic teacher and had the patience of a saint as we fumbled our way through and all managed to create something that looked like the demo piece. The time flew and we were all surprised when it was the end of the lesson. Thanks again to Miriam, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

My teacher was called Deb. She was very good and patient. I came away with the makings of two squares - on in double and one treble. Deb has given me the confidence to carry on and hopefully complete a small blanket. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and all credit to Deb.
