Get hooked on crochet with our beginner’s tutorial! Enjoy this relaxing craft as you get to grips with the simple skills you’ll need to stitch beautiful designs, with one of our craft experts on hand to guide you through the steps.

This workshop provides a wonderful introduction to the world of crochet, perfect if you’re a complete beginner. Through the course of the workshop, you’ll learn double stitch and treble stitch. You’ll also be shown how to create a chain, working in rows to create a tension square.

You’ll have a craft kit included, ensuring you’ve got the yarn and hook you need. It’s a great opportunity to pick up techniques you can then put into practice when you move on to other patterns.

Throughout the tutorial, you will be able to ask any crochet questions you may have.

Please note, our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

Please contact your chosen store if you are left-handed to ensure the colleague hosting will be able provide the correct support needed alternatively all of our online session's can support a left-handed learner, BOOK HERE

This workshop is also available as a private workshop for group bookings of 4+.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Teacher was lovely and spent time with all of us. Practiced the basic stitches. My two teenagers soon got the hang of it. Need to keep on practicing now and progress to the next level.

The teacher, Lauren, was friendly and very helpful. She explained the crochet skills well and then offered 1:1 to support to follow up her demonstrations. The group size, of 5 pupils was ideal, to ensure we all got the best from the session. My daughter and I both came away very pleased with the progress we’d made in a short session.
