This is a fun activity in Archway, London

Did you know that in China, long noodles symbolise long life?
That’s why noodles are traditionally eaten on birthdays — the longer the noodle, the longer the life (no pressure when pulling them!).
If you’re looking for a meaningful birthday gift experience in London — or if you simply love bold, spicy flavours — this Sichuan cooking class might be exactly what you’re craving.

A Warm & Spicy Cooking Experience in London
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to make authentic Sichuan Dan Dan noodles completely from scratch — including the noodles themselves.
Don’t worry if you’re new to cooking. We guide you gently, step by step, in a relaxed and friendly environment. Classes are small, so you’ll never feel lost. Our spacious, air-conditioned studio keeps everything comfortable — and weekday bookings are often quiet, sometimes even private.
This is comfort food with a kick — warming, fragrant, and deeply satisfying.

In This Chinese Cooking Class, You Will Learn To:
• Make fresh noodles from scratch — both thin and thick styles
• Prepare the classic spicy minced topping
• Balance the rich, nutty, savoury Dan Dan sauce
• Cook and beautifully present your finished bowl
There’s something magical about sitting down to a bowl of noodles you made yourself — especially when that chilli aroma rises up and makes everyone at the table smile.
By the end of the session, you’ll not only enjoy your handmade dish, but you’ll also leave with the confidence to recreate it at home for friends, family… or your next birthday celebration.

Why Guests Love This Class
• It’s warm, relaxed and beginner-friendly
• You learn authentic Sichuan flavours — not watered-down versions
• The balance of spice, nuttiness and savoury depth is unforgettable
• It’s a fun and meaningful birthday gift experience
• You get to say, “I made these noodles myself” (which never gets old)
Some guests come for the spice.
Some come for the noodles.
Most leave planning who they’re bringing next time.

This class was absolutely fantastic! Simon and Hanna are so passionate and knowledgeable. Not only did they guide us through every step of the process - from cutting to cooking - but they also shared the history of the dish and the traditions behind it. Highly recommended - we’ll definitely be back for other classes!

Made very welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Explained what we would do that evening and then began to tell us more about Chinese history whilst serving us green tea. He related the history to what we were cooking which covered things like : Why is it called Dan Dan? What spices were initially available in China Stir frying and what it actually means Difference between numbing and hot Touched onJapan and some of the influences that have come from China versus America The cooking (and the order in which to cook) was very relaxing and informative. Got taught a little about knife skills Kung Pao chicken was delicious. Dan Dan noodles were fabulous along with the pork mince All in all a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back once we have worked out what we want to learn next. Am now off to China town to buy some ingredients that we used last night…
