Do you love the beauty of the coast? Learn how to capture it on canvas in this painting class. Whether you're a beginner starting your journey into making art or you're an improver honing your skills, this oils class is perfect for you.

You'll be guided by talented artist Robin, a retired surgeon who fell in love with art and is now offering painting workshops from his 17th-century studio in the Westbury Arts Centre Milton Keynes. Following his mantra “you can’t make a mistake in oil painting”, you will transform a blank canvas into a gorgeous artwork with plenty of support.

Robin will guide you through the process of planning and executing your painting, including handling paint, media, and equipment. He will provide instruction on colour, mood, and structure and be available to share advice and encouragement in an intimate private class.

In between learning how to paint with oils, there will be lunch and tea breaks.

“We had a wonderful time at the Westbury arts centre oil painting class with Robin. He was friendly and welcoming and a wonderful instructor. With Robins guidance before we knew it we had each completed something we are proud of despite never having oil painted before. I would thoroughly recommend trying the session out if your curious as it's a great little crash course in it's own right, and to be able to do it in robins own studio in such a beautiful space only added to the experience. “We really enjoyed our class with Robin, who was very friendly and helpful, giving lots of useful tips and tricks throughout. He took us on a tour of the lovely Westbury Arts Centre before entering his studio and had a short tea break in the middle. Very pleased with our oil paintings as complete beginners, highly recommend!”

“I cannot rate highly enough, the class with Robin was tremendously informative, fun and very good value. Robin is a fantastic teacher and overall great chap! I purchased this class for my girlfriend and I, we had no experience of oil paints before this class whatsoever, but with clear and expert guidance we walked away with a painting each to be proud of and we learnt an awful lot during the day. The lesson took place in the Westbury arts centre, a building with lots of history and character, we received a tour of the building, Robin's studio was warm and comfortable, a healthy amount of hot tea was provided. After a couple of hours of painting with helpful step-by-step guidance, we had a lunch of sandwiches and crisps, then we completed our paintings in another 2 hours of tuition. I think that for the amount of time in class, the top quality materials, beautiful studio and lunch included, this is a very good value class and would recommend to anyone and everyone. Robin is not only a great artist with a wealth of experience to aid his teaching, but a very kind and encouraging person. Thank you for a great day and best wishes, Darren and Emeline”
