This is a fun activity in Edinburgh
Mosaicing fits in perfectly with a vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Your talented teacher Jacky works with a variety of materials including glass, recycled crockery and natural materials like slate and sea glass, and finds the whole creative process from sourcing to creating absorbing, relaxing and mesmerising.
On this 3-hour beginners' taster session, Jacky will help you create two mosaic items using methods you can do at home. You will begin by designing a beautiful hanging heart using vitreous ('swimming pool') tiles. While this is drying and getting ready for grouting, Jacky will show you how to create a simple, non-grouted drinks coaster.
You will learn about mosaic equipment, including tile cutting techniques for vitreous tiles using a wheelcutter; grouting; and how to stay safe while mosaicing.
You will take home two finished mosaic pieces, and have learned all you need to know to start your mosaicing journey.
