This is a fun activity in Canning Town, London

Roll up your sleeves and dive into your creativity with this pottery class in London. Try hand building and wheel throwing for a two-and-a-half-hour experience guided by the talented teachers at Bonbon Pottery.

Come and discover the art of shaping clay with your own hands, exploring techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab building to bring your creative visions to life in clay form. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn the art of painting intricate designs on your pottery.

As well as exploring pottery making through hand building, you'll also get an introduction to wheel throwing, perfect for both beginners and those who need a refresher. You'll learn the basics of centring, opening, and pulling up the walls of your pot with personalised guidance.

You'll craft your very own beautiful works of art as you unwind with your pals in a vibrant London pottery studio. Once your pieces are finished, you can take them home to air dry for a week. Bonbon Pottery also offers a kiln firing service for just an extra £10 which will be ready in four weeks.

Zac is the most fun pottery teacher I’ve had! He truly makes the experience one of a kind.

The class was really nice, and everyone finished with a great piece (thankfully the instructor helped those who needed it so we all had something regardless of our skill at the wheel). I would say, however, it feels a bit cheeky that you're then charged separately for kiln firing fees- the course is quite expensive so I would expect this to be included. I can understand shipping costs are additional if you can't come pick up the piece in person but I think the kiln fees shouldn't be additional/on top of considering value for money/what you get out of the course.

The class was very easy and we got to grips with throwing very quickly! We were able to create our pieces and paint within our timeslot as we had plenty of time. Would definitely do this again :)

Really friendly teacher, straight to the point. No awkward, forced small talk. Was happy to help as my bowl needed a lot of adjustments To improve, have tissues by the sink to dry and more heat guns so everyone to move to decorating sooner. Also, we arrived about 15mins early and asked to wait at table. Hosting could be better by inviting us to order a drink while we wait. Overall good activity, would recommend

I attended the Taster - Wheel Throwing class at BonBon Pottery on 23 March 2024. Sasha, our instructor, first provided a demonstration of the wheel throwing method, explaining step by step what to do. Then when it came to our turn (each of us have our own potter wheel to work with), she went around and gave guidance when needed. She was very patient with all my questions, which is appreciated. She also spent time with each of us giving feedback. Once our work is complete, we moved to the painting table and we were given all the tools possible to paint/decorate our handiwork. I can't wait to see what the results will be after firing/glazing. A really fun activity and we get to use our handiwork after that too!

It is a cosy, welcoming place and all the staff are friendly. All materials are provided and the teacher is lovely; very engaging, clear and full of encouragement. It’s very easy to settle in quickly and have fun learning a new skill and art form. Big recommend for anyone who’s interested. Go for it! Great time.
