This is a fun activity in Bankside, London

AIR CONDITIONED!
Just a 2-minute walk from London Bridge station, discover the calming joy of pottery at Maison S.Sommet.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is a chance to unwind, get messy and create your own functional ceramics in our warm and welcoming studio. Guided step-by-step by our expert teachers, you’ll learn the foundations of wheel throwing before creating your own cup, bowl or ceramic vessel. Even complete beginners are often surprised by what they create in just one session.

We provide everything you need including unlimited clay, tools and aprons — just dress comfortably and trim your nails beforehand for the best experience.

At the end of the session, select your favourite pieces to be professionally glazed and kiln-fired in your choice of our signature Cobalt Blue or Clear stoneware glaze for £10 per piece. Finished ceramics are food-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, and are usually ready for collection within 4–5 weeks.

Perfect for date nights, birthdays, friends or solo creatives looking to try something new in London. Bring your own favourite drinks to top your experience!

Our studio is fully equipped with air conditioning — ideal for escaping the heatwave.

Clay, music, good company and your new favourite mug.

The teacher was very good and the class was a lot of fun. The location is very edgy though and my girlfriend had a bad experience arriving. The pottery place is how I expected it to be save for an extremely single tatty hand towel the whole group shared and shabby toilets

Our teacher was fantastic! Gave very clear instructions and demonstrations on how to throw and was always there to help when we inevitably had issues!

Steph was absolutely fantastic on the weekend. Created a very fun and relaxed environment but was also extremely informative and encouraging. Very attentive with everyone so no one felt left out and had a very friendly and welcoming energy. I want private lessons now haha!

Booked a class with my friends to do for my birthday. We all really enjoyed it and the two teachers were very helpful. There was a good balance of time to experiment and work on your own and also receiving help and advice from the teachers. Would definitely go again.

Both my wife and I had a great time at the wheel pottery class last Saturday. Friendly, experienced and knowledgeable teacher with a social group of 12 in a lovely light filled studio. After some initial guidance we all had our own chance to make our own pieces on individual wheels. Time flew by and we managed to make a few take home items. Definitely recommended for a hands on and fun experience.

We had an amazing time at the Wheel Throwing Pottery class! As first-timers, we weren’t sure what to expect, but the instructor made the experience so enjoyable. They were incredibly patient in explaining the fundamentals and guided us through the process step by step, making it easy to learn. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, making it a perfect activity to do with friends or your significant other. We loved getting our hands dirty and creating something from scratch! Highly recommend this class for anyone looking for a unique and social experience. We’ll definitely be looking at doing more pottery in the future!
