Note: The price shown is based on three people attending the same session.
A private class for three people (i.e. £180.00 per person). This is the ultimate crafty catch-up, you'll have the studio to yourselves while you learn the basics of this heritage craft under the guidance of a very experienced teacher. In this session, you'll each create two pieces to take home, with a minimum of one hour of hands-on bench time for each person. I run sessions every weekend and some weekdays.
After a quick introduction to cover basic health and safety, you'll then immerse yourselves in the process of making glass, using traditional tools and your own breath to shape molten glass. During the workshop, you will be able to choose your shapes and colours to make a dazzling array of glass, which will be yours to keep and treasure.
During the session you will each
- Make a solid glass piece (eg paperweight/candle holder)
- Make a blown glass piece (eg drinking glass/vase/bowl)
- Gather molten glass from a furnace
- Shape glass using a variety of tools
- Add your choice of glass colours
- Blow glass
All materials and safety equipment will be ready and waiting for you, so all you need to do is show up and get ready to create.
Please note: Your glass will have to be annealed overnight and will have to be picked up or posted out to you at a later date at cost.
