Experience Your First Clay Journey

Perfect for beginners. Learn to work with clay on the potter's wheel as we guide you through preparing clay, centring, and shaping it into a cylinder or bowl

Class Details:

- Duration: 2 hours

- Maximum: 4 students (+6 soon)

- Age requirement: 18+

- All materials and equipment provided

- Includes glazing for up to 3 pieces

During this wheel-throwing workshop, you'll have the chance to make as many pieces as you can using the skills and knowledge you pick up from your supportive teacher. You'll craft one to four pieces – typically people make about two – and these are usually cups as they are a beginner-friendly project.

Your handmade pottery pieces will be fired and glazed by your teacher. Four to six weeks after your class, you'll be invited back to the pottery studio to collect your finished pieces. You'll be asked to book your collection.

Class sizes are kept small, only up to 4 at a time, so you can enjoy dedicated time with your teacher and learn in a relaxed environment. It's perfect to enjoy with a friend or a date idea in London!

By joining our classes, you are also supporting our initiative to create a more sustainable pottery practice. Our goal at Rescued Clay is to use clay from construction sites to build art and communities. These classes will help us in the transition from commercial clay into fully rescued clay.

An all round excellent experience. Prashant was incredibly welcoming and supportive throughout our class. He answered all of our questions, giving us 1 to 1 guidance as well as helping us fix any mistakes we made, whilst still allowing us the freedom to be creative with our pieces. We’ve been to many pottery classes and this is by far the best one we’ve ever come across and with a great project and ethos behind it. Highly recommend! :) - Alex & Kait

It was my first time doing pottery and I really enjoyed it. Prashant was a good teacher, having a smaller group meant that he was able to dedicate the time equally to each of us and help us meet our goals. Made a bowl and a cup, almost a month to pick it up but looking forward to it :)

Prashant is an excellent teacher, he explained the process well and was super patient and always on hand to answer our questions. The Rescued Clay project is for such an interesting cause that we didn’t know much about prior. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful class with Prashant - the studio space is beautiful, surrounded with inspiring pieces that perhaps set our ambitions too high… The instruction was outstanding, with a lot of freedom and encouragement to try and to be comfortable with making mistakes. We managed to make three pieces each and left raving, excited to have picked up a new skill and come away with a new interest. Thank you very much, Prashant!
